After months of planning, work is finally underway on our brand new home. More than 70 people attended a festive groundbreaking ceremony May 20th marking start of construction for the new building. U.S. Senator and Brunswick resident Angus King, who was the main speaker, gave credit to the community. “There’s not another place on earth I’d rather live,” he said. Local residents and organizations donated more than a half million dollars to build the new center. Senator King’s comments followed remarks by Board Chairman Chick Carroll and Charleen, a Gathering Place guest and volunteer.
The new building is going up on the site of the former Community Services Center annex, next to the Seventh-day Adventist Clothing Bank and a short walk from the Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program Soup Kitchen and Food Bank.
