GP Announces New, Expanded Hours

Effective December 4, 2017, The Gathering Place will be open Saturdays from 8:30 am to 11:30 am.

“We’re excited to be able to do this,” declared Sally Hennessey, TGP Volunteer Coordinator. “For the first time, those who live in cars or tents and don’t have a roof over their
heads will have a place to come on Saturday where they can warm up, grab a bite to eat and meet their friends. Our wonderful volunteers have made this possible and I’m particularly glad we’re able to do
this before it gets any colder.”

Attendance has been growing steadily since TGP opened its doors in 2011.  From seven guests on opening day, daily attendance has risen to an average of 85 and is still climbing.  The majority of our guests live in and around Brunswick and do not want to leave.  “By expanding our program to six days a week,” said Mary Connolly, TGP Executive Director, “we can be part of the solution to a very complicated social issue in our community.
